Based in London, K.LINA describes her sound as a fusion between acoustic pop and classic rock. Born and raised in Sofia, Bulgaria, Kalina was always highly involved in the arts: painting, dancing, and singing. In her mid teens, the young artist started playing piano and guitar, unlocking her inner songwriter, helping express emotions she was afraid to recognise. With her family in Bulgaria’s conservative public eye, Kalina’s childhood was all about being humble and not drawing attention to herself. Even though she was grateful for the life she had been given, the young woman spent her whole adolescence wanting to get away, so she can follow her dream and be herself.

In 2017, Kalina saw an opportunity to grow her musicianship and confidence by posting covers on Instagram, which gave birth to the artist persona K.LINA. In the fall of 2017, the songwriter moved to the UK to start her bachelor’s degree in Business Management. A year into her study, Kalina auditioned for the one of the renowned British music academies. After getting accepted, she knew the opportunity was too big to miss out on, but she did not want to drop out of business school. So, a crazy idea came to mind: “Just do both” and so she did.

In April 2019, K.LINA released her debut single and music video ‘Dream Breaker’ - a song about perseverance and self-love. The song carried an important self-empowering message, as the singer has always struggled with her inner critics and the fear of failure. The song caught the attention of the British radio station Eagle and the Bulgarian TV talk show ‘Before Lunch’, which became her national television debut. 

In the music academy, K.LINA formed a band of incredibly passionate and talented musicians that helped her express her old-school yet contemporary soul. Inspired by Lady Gaga’s New York ‘Dive Bar Tour’ and obsessed with the idea of touring, the young performer booked shows at various iconic London venues such as The Half Moon and The Dublin Castle. She called it ‘The Fall London Pub Tour’ - two months of driving around, carrying gear and creating a strong band dynamic by connecting with London’s music lovers.

On February 7, 2020, K.LINA released her second single and video ‘Just One Pic’ - a song that tells a nostalgic love story. Her debut EP ‘00:00 Sanity’ came out in April 2020 followed by a press tour in her homeland.
